Affymetrix
As an officially acknowledged Affymetrix Core Lab and a Centre of Excellence for ChIP-on-chip, VIB Nucleomics Core offers a wide plethora of Affymetrix microarrays. Roughly, these microarrays are subdivided per analysis type:
- 3′ IVT Expression Analysis, using microarrays where probes are located at the 3’-end of the transcript and oligo-dT amplification protocols are used.
- Whole Transcript Expression Analysis, using microarrays where probes are located across the complete transcript covering each exon. Depending on the type of array there are 2 or 4 probes per exon, enabling data analysis at two different levels:
- transcript/gene level, where the signals of all probes within one transcript/gene are summarized into one signal per transcript/gene
- exon level, where the probe summarization is performed on the exon level, enabling the investigation of expression differences due to alternative splice variants.
- Gene Regulation Analysis, using tiling arrays where probes are tiled over the complete (or part of the) genome.
- miRNA Analysis, using one microarray containing probes specific to the miRNA content of 131 different organisms.
